"Primary III, Primary IV, Elementary I, II, III, and IV"

Students (juniors through age 18)


WINNERS SHOWCASE PIANO SOLO RECITAL
April 4 at Noon (Beginners)
Followed by the "live" OMC Piano Awards Competition Medium & Above

Divisions
Beginning students will be divided into three divisions.  
Only one entry per student.
There must be at least three entrants in each division listed below:
  • PRIMARY = Prim 3 & Prim 4
  • ELEMENTARY A = Elem 1 & Elem 2
  • ELEMENTARY B = Elem 3 & Elem 4

Fees are non-refundable.
Entry fee:  $20 for members; $30 for non-members
Applications and payment are due by Saturday March 21, 2026 midnight.

Repertoire/ Music Score Requirements
Student must perform ONE PIECE for the Awards Competition.
Music must be from the NFMC Festivals Bulletin 2024-2028.
 Event is for PIANO SOLO, Performance - by memory


NOTE:  If you purchased sheet music online, have handy the receipt confirmation or the name associated with the purchase, as outlined on page xiii of the NFMC Bulletin’s Festivals General Rules under "Scores—Hard copy, Digital, or Hand-copied." Please make arrangements for this in advance with the committee to avoid potential disqualification.

Recording is due March 21
Beginner Competition is a 100% Virtual Competition.
Winners will be decided by video submissions.   (YouTube)
A panel of two judges will determine the top performers.
SHOWCASE:  Winners must perform in person on April 4 at Noon
Those not able to perform at the Showcase are INELIGIBLE for the cash award.


Instructions - BEGINNERS - VIRTUAL
Submit a video recording as a YouTube link and upload a PDF of their music from the original book through the online application. The quality of the instrument, recording, or location will NOT be a factor in judging. 
Winners are required to perform on April 4th.
Recital at NOON.
Receive their placements and awards in person .


Video Submission Guidelines (YouTube) - PIANO SOLO
  • A full size 88-key piano (acoustic or digital) should be used for the performance. 
    Be sure the student’s head, arms, hands, and feet, and three pedals are visible at all times.
  • You may use a cell phone, tablet, video camera or computer to record the performance. Good sound and video quality are important, so please use the best device available.
  • Students are dressed in "smart casual" / appropriate attire.
  • Hold the camera in the HORIZONTAL/landscape position so that the video is the largest size possible.
  • Student/helper would announce their division, the title of the piece, and composer.
  • The video must be made in one continuous take and from one fixed, stable camera angle/location. No zooming in and out. No editing, no splicing, and no manipulation of the recording in any way. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
  • Upload your video to YouTube.com with visibility set to "unlisted".
  • Label the uploaded video file with division, title of piece, and name of the composer.
  • Submit your YouTube video link by March 21, 2026, 11:59 pm EST

  • Once a video is submitted, no substitutions or additional videos will be allowed. 

High School students can earn Community Service Hours. (Check with your HS office for assistance.)
